Basic Foot Care

Assessment skills for Registered Nurses (RN’s), Registered Practical Nurses (RPN’s), and Personal Support Workers.

This Basic Foot Care course is designed to teach Registered Nurses (RN’s), Registered Practical Nurses (RPN’s), and Personal Support Workers (PSWs) working with the elderly, people with disabilities, or those who are unable to provide proper routine foot care to themselves. It will also cover how to assess and recognize foot health related problems, and communicate effectively with other members of the health team.

Assessments

Once you have completed the Basic Foot Care course, you will be asked to select a date and time for a hands-on theoretical assessment; where you will be taught how to identify abnormal disorders of the skin and nail. 

Prerequisites

  • RN’s and RPN’s in good standing and provide proof of current RN/RPN certificate of competence
  • All nursing students require proof of $3 million liability insurance for clinical hands-on training through their professional association
  • Proof of Personal Support Worker course
  • Students to provide theoretical and practical exam video to educator via email
